What happens after you upload?

After your file finishes uploading, Long Play processes it in stages:

  1. Pending - upload received, encoding queued
  2. Processing - video being prepared for streaming (1080p, 720p, and 480p renditions generated; 4K source files also get a 4K stream); thumbnail and preview clip generated
  3. Ready - encoding complete; your video is playable

A typical 10-minute video takes a few minutes to process. Longer videos take proportionally longer.

Editing while processing

You can edit your video's title, description, visibility, and other settings at any time - no need to wait for encoding to finish.

If encoding fails

Your video enters a "Processing Failed" state. Your original file is always kept - nothing is lost. Try replacing the file with a fresh export, or contact us and we'll take a look.

Auto-generating captions

After your upload is received, the confirmation page will offer an option to generate a caption track automatically from the audio. This is entirely optional and runs on Long Play's own servers - no third-party AI service is involved. Caption generation runs in parallel with encoding, so you don't have to wait for your video to be ready first. The resulting track starts as a Draft and won't appear to viewers until you review and approve it. See Auto-generated captions.
