Downloading your videos from Vimeo
If you want to move your videos from Vimeo to Long Play manually - either because you are on Vimeo Free, Plus, or Basic (which do not support the automatic importer), or you simply prefer to do it yourself - here is how to download your files from Vimeo.
Step 1 - Go to your Vimeo library
Sign in to Vimeo and go to vimeo.com/manage/videos. This lists all the videos on your account.
Step 2 - Open the download menu
Find the video you want. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on its thumbnail, then select Download.
Step 3 - Choose your quality
A list of available download options appears. Choose the best one available:
- Original - the file exactly as it was uploaded to Vimeo, at full quality. This is always the right choice if it appears.
- 1080p / 720p / 540p - re-encoded versions Vimeo created. These are lower quality than the original. Download the highest resolution available.
If "Original" does not appear, Vimeo did not keep your original file. This happens with older uploads, or on some account plans. The highest resolution transcode available is the best you can get from Vimeo. If you still have the original file on your computer or a hard drive, use that instead - it will be significantly better quality.
Step 4 - Upload to Long Play
Once downloaded, upload the file via /me/upload the same way you would any other video. Long Play stores your file as-is and encodes from it, so whatever quality you upload is the quality you keep.
Downloading in bulk
Vimeo does not offer a bulk download tool in the standard interface. You need to download each video individually from the three-dot menu. If you have a large library, work through it in batches. If you are on Vimeo Pro or above, consider using the automatic importer instead - it handles your whole library in the background without any manual downloading.
