AI-generated content
Long Play permits AI-generated content. If your video contains significant AI-generated elements, we ask you to disclose it.
What needs disclosure?
Disclose AI use when AI played a major creative role in generating the content your viewers actually see or hear. This includes:
- AI-generated visuals or imagery (e.g. Sora, Midjourney, Runway, similar tools)
- AI-generated or synthesised voices
- AI-generated people, faces, or characters
- Scenes or sequences that are substantially AI-generated
What doesn't need disclosure?
You don't need to disclose AI use for tools that assist your existing work rather than generating the work itself. This includes:
- Colour correction and grading tools that use AI
- Audio cleanup, noise reduction, or mastering
- AI-assisted subtitle or caption generation
- AI tools used in pre-production (research, scripting, planning)
- AI-assisted editing that doesn't generate new visual or audio content
The line is roughly: did AI generate something your viewers will see or hear as a significant part of the video? If yes, disclose. If AI helped you make your own work better, you don't need to.
How to disclose
On the upload page or your video's edit page, check the box marked "This video contains significantly AI-generated content." You can optionally add a note explaining what was AI-generated - some viewers will appreciate the detail.
You can change this at any time from the edit page.
What happens when you disclose?
- A quiet "AI-generated content" label appears on your video card and video page
- Your video appears normally everywhere on Long Play - browse, homepage, genre pages, creator profile, and Surprise Me
- Viewers can choose to filter AI-generated content from the browse page using the browse filter
This is about trust with your audience
AI disclosure isn't a punishment or a restriction. It's honest communication with the people watching your work. Some viewers care deeply about whether what they're watching was made by a human. Some don't mind at all. The disclosure lets them make that choice for themselves.
Long Play doesn't monitor your content for AI use and we have no way to automatically detect it. Disclosure is entirely on you. We trust you to be straight with your audience.
If someone reports content they believe contains undisclosed significant AI-generated elements and we agree after reviewing it, we'll add the disclosure label ourselves and may reach out to you. Repeated or deliberate non-disclosure can result in content removal.
Your viewers are trusting you. Be honest with them.
A note on the evolving landscape
AI tools are changing fast. What counts as "significantly AI-generated" will keep shifting as the technology develops. Use your judgement, err on the side of disclosure when you're unsure, and treat your audience as people who deserve to know what they're watching.
