Long Play is a small platform, and we'd rather be honest about that. What we can promise is that it gets better every week.
What's changed lately
- Videos are watchable sooner. A 720p copy is ready first, and we email you when it is. 1080p and 4K follow in the background.
- Uploads are tougher. A stalled upload now notices within a minute and carries on, and you can see your speed and time left.
- Faster starts in Asia. Videos are now kept in Singapore as well as Sydney and Los Angeles.
- Smoother sign-up and sign-in. A few rough edges that tripped up new accounts are gone.
- New features: auto-captions made on our own machines, voice-over recording in the browser, your own domain name, following creators, saved Moments, and a WordPress plugin - paste a Long Play link into a post and it becomes the player.
How we know what to fix
Every play sends back a small report: how long the video took to start, whether it paused to buffer, and which quality it reached. It doesn't include your name or account - our privacy policy lists exactly what we record. Over the last 30 days, 99.5% of plays started and the average video began in under two seconds.
On top of that there's an independent uptime monitor, alerts when playback struggles, and daily and weekly checks of everything from sign-ups to backups.
We test a lot before anything goes live, but the real world sometimes finds things testing doesn't. So we regularly read through a week of real activity, line by line. Most of the fixes above came from that - including a reminder email that had never once been delivered, because nothing failed loudly enough to notice. It's fixed now.
Tell us what we're missing
Numbers tell us something went wrong, rarely why. That part comes from you. If something is confusing, slow or missing, tell us - a real person reads every message. You may also see an optional one-tap question when you first sign up, delete a video or close your account. Every answer helps.
Long Play will never be finished. The goal is simple: every week, a little better than the last. Thanks for being here early.
